Seco Tools Inc. enhanced its Perfomax indexable insert drills, including a changed helix for improved productivity and chip evacuation, a refined core for improved strength and stability, and an improved drill point to increase tool life and achieve better tolerance.
Additionally, a coated lathe drill (SD572) and coated large diameter drill (SD542) that incorporates a helix flute and a range of 2.250 in to 3.500 in have also been developed. When compared to competitors, this generation of Perfomax drills has offered 50 percent higher tool life, 47 percent increased productivity, lower noise levels, and greater chip control due to better chip breaking.
Perfomax drills featuring an optimized chip flute design, low friction coated drill body and strong insets offer excellent productivity. This allows users to dramatically increase productivity and reduce total cost by boosting speeds and feeds while avoiding common problems of deflection, poor tool life and quality, even with long lengths and deep hole drilling applications.
Unlike other indexable insert drills, these drills use square inserts to provide the distinct advantage of a strong 90 deg corner and the economy of four cutting edges. On top of that, the tool life of both inserts and drills is outstanding when evaluated against competitors. Perfomax is available in a large range of user-friendly drill diameters (0.59 in to 3.50 in) and lengths of up to 5xD in certain sizes.
Inserts are available in a wide range of geometries. Perfomax uses different inserts in periphery and center insert pockets to provide the best balance of cutting forces and highest cutting data possible.
