Kennemetal, Inc. has developed new UP turning inserts for its Kenna Perfect turning system in order to offer improved turning geometry for demanding stainless steel applications. The new design offers improved chip control in 300-series stainless steels and provides a soft cutting action, resulting in lower cutting forces. It also offers a large rake angle to lessen cutting resistance, which improves surface finish on parts and extends tool life, leading to increase productivity. The design also improves resistance to depth-of-cut notching.
The UP geometry is available in the new KC9225™, KC9240™ and KC5010™ grades, and, in combination with the KENNA PERFECT turning system, is recommended for applications in the medical and food industries as well as flange manufacturing, the chemical industry, and oil and petrochemical businesses, or wherever improved cutting performance in stainless steels is required. www.kennametal.com
