PCB Piezotronics (PCB®) offers the Model 410B01 ICP® force sensor signal conditioner, designed for monitoring forces experienced during manufacturing, assembly, on-line processes, quality assurance, and end-of-the-line product testing. Retrofitting older machines for effective in-process force measurements can present many challenges, including difficulties with proper force sensor integration and high production cycle rates. Sometimes existing sensing systems or PLC's are simply unable to respond quickly enough for reliable, repeatable performance.

Model 410B01 allows older PLC systems to stay in synch with high-speed production cycles, by actually capturing and holding the peak force reading until a PLC is able to scan for the value. In addition, an optically isolated relay resets the value, which ensures high reliability force measurement and faster machinery production cycles. The system is comprised of a DIN rail mounted module, which can be installed and fully operational within minutes. Model 410B01 also offers high-resolution analog output (0 to 10 Volts), which can be directly correlated to units of force. Other features include auto-zero and remote reset to synchronize with machines cycles. When used in combination with Series M240 ICP® strain sensors, this simple force measurement system may be used in a wide range of process monitoring and control applications, including verifying stamping, crimping, press fit, riveting or other assembly force fabrication applications, such as material presence, misalignment, and end-of-line test, and anywhere zero-defect product manufacturing is an essential outcome. www.pcb.com
