Ratner Steel (Roseville, MN), recently ordered two Red Bud Industries (Red Bud, IL) Stretcher Levelers. The Stretcher Levelers are scheduled to ship to their facility in late 2008.
Both Stretchers will be installed in existing lines as part of a major upgrade of Ratner?s processing capabilities. One Stretcher Leveler will be built to process material up to .375 in (9.5 mm) at 65,000 PSI (448 N/mm2) yield or .250 in (6.35 mm) at 100,000 PSI (689 N/mm2). The second Stretcher Leveler will be built to process material up to .500 in (12.7 mm) at 75,000 PSI (517 N/mm2) yield or .375 in (9.5 mm) at 100,000 PSI (689 N/mm2).
Due to trapped internal stresses, once material is cut, it can spring back. Stretcher Leveling exceeds the yield in all of the material top to bottom and side to side and produces flat material that is significantly more stable than any other product available and eliminates the possibility of spring back.
Ratner?s new Stretcher Levelers will give them the capacity to level material up to .500 in (12.7 mm) thick and 72 in (1829 mm) wide at 75,000 PSI (517 N/mm2) yield and thinner material at increasingly higher yield strengths. Not only will the material be leveled, but all trapped internal stresses will be relieved and the possibility of spring back of the material will be eliminated.
