OMAX® Corporation (Kent, WA) has announced its placement on the 2008 Inc. 5000 list. Regarded as the most comprehensive look at the entrepreneurial engine that drives the U.S. economy, the annual list recognizes and ranks the country's 5,000 fastest-growing private companies.
The Inc. 5000 is an expansion of the Inc. 500, a list introduced by the small business magazine in 1982. The list is ranked according to percentage revenue growth over a four-year period, and companies must be independent, privately held and based in the United States to qualify for selection.
OMAX boosted revenues from $25.3 million in 2004 to $62.7 million in 2007 for a 147 percent revenue growth and a place in the top 50 percent of companies on the list. The Seattle-based corporation also ranked in the top 35 percent of all manufacturing companies, who accounted for 8.1 percent of the total 5000. The 2008 Inc. 5000 companies reported aggregate revenue of $185 billion and median three-year growth of 147 percent. The companies have also been engines of job growth, creating more than 826,033 jobs since they were founded.
