Sweden-based Sandvik Inc. plans to add 51 jobs to its Mebane, NC plant in the next three years and invest $85 million. Mebane is located about 20 miles north of Chapel Hill. The plant currently has 160 employees. Sandvik received $150,000 from the state's One North Carolina Fund, a grant that encourages businesses to create new jobs in the state. The company produces high-speed cutting tools, as well as stainless and high-alloy specialty steel products, in 78 manufacturing facilities in 59 countries.
