Fagor offer their 8070 ETX CNC control system, which is based upon an industrial hardened Windows operating system running on an XP-embedded platform, thus allowing the integration of a host of online software configurations for a true Open Architecture system. In addition, the 8070 is built with a Solid state disk thus ensuring maximum reliability to work in harsh industrial environments.

The operating system includes the FBWF (File Based Write Filter) feature which provides protected disk access that protects the 8070 CNC against viruses, hard shutdowns and un-directed software installations. Designed for use with digital servo systems, high speed motors and linear as well as rotary high accuracy feedback systems, machine servo performance will always be optimized. In addition, the 8070 CNC offers true 5 axes machining compensation as a standard feature (RTCP compensation).

The 8070 CNC increases productivity while maintaining part finish accuracy. Optimizing block processing time (lower than 0.5 ms) and analyzing the tool path in advance with advanced high speed block look ahead which results in optimum part finish. Tool path transition gets smoother thanks to the predictive control feature which applies the most efficient acceleration control for each machining operation. Mechanical stress is further minimized by applying post-interpolation filters that eliminate the resonance frequencies common to high speed machines. Thus achieving smoother machining, better part finish and longer life span of the machine components is possible.

The solutions implemented in the 8070 ETX CNC system to process CAD/CAM generated programs consist of the combination of splines and polynomial transitions as well as the interpretation of the NURB format used by CAD/CAM programs. All this helps achieve high feederate machining while maintaining the accuracy required by all the geometries to be machined, while decreasing execution time as well. Also, the 8070 is capable of executing, through Ethernet, a program residing in another PC, thus making it extremely flexible on the shop floor. The 8070 CNC offers the DINDIST feature, thus allowing for up to 28 axes with 4 separate execution channels.
