AMT Elects New Board of Directors and Officers

AMT ? The Association For Manufacturing Technology (McLean, VA) elected its 2009-2010 officers and directors in October 23 at its 2009 Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL.

The board of directors of the association, which represents more than 400 American manufacturers of machine tools, manufacturing machinery and related products, elected Daniel D. Janka, president, MAG Global (Hebron, KY), as chairman. Janka is the former president of Cincinnati Technologies, MAG Global, in Hebron. He previously served as executive vice president of Cincinnati Lamb, a company comprised of the merged Cincinnati Machine and Lamb Technicon operations. He joined Cincinnati Milacron?s Machine Tool Group in 1984. Janka holds a BA in industrial engineering and technology from Southern Illinois University. He also attended the American Management Association (AMA) Curriculum for Presidents and the University of Cincinnati?s Advanced Management Program.

Janka follows Ronald F. Schildge, president, Eitel Presses, Inc. (Orwigsburg, PA), who now serves the association as an Ex Officio member of its board of directors, along with Doug Currie, president and CEO, Erie Press Systems (Erie, PA).

The board elected Eugene R. Haffely, Jr., chief operating officer, Assembly & Test Worldwide, Inc. (Dayton, OH), to serve as first vice chairman in the coming year. Haffely formerly served as group president of the assembly systems group of Assembly & Test Worldwide. He was a co-founder of Advanced Assembly Automation (AAA) in 1984 and served as vice president of operations until 1996. He then served as president of Hansford Manufacturing, a Division of DT Industries and as the corporate vice president of operations for DT Industries from 1997 through 1999, when he returned to AAA as president. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin with a BS in computer and electrical engineering.

Also elected was Timothy B. Dining, president and CEO, Greenerd Press and Machine Company, Inc. (Nashua, NH), to serve as Second Vice Chairman & Treasurer. Dining has been in his current position since 2000. Prior to joining the 125-year old manufacturer of hydraulic presses, he was vice president of operations for Labsphere, Inc. (North Sutton, NH). Before that, he served as vice president of operations for WPI Power Systems and WPI Electronics. He is a Dartmouth College graduate with a BS in psychology. He also holds an MBA from The Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire.

Kim W. Beck, president and CEO, Automatic Feed Co. (Napoleon, OH), will continue to serve as secretary. He joined Automatic Feed as a salesman in 1975 and became president in 1982. A graduate of Hillsdale College, he is involved with many civic associations and has been an active member of AMT and has served on several committees of the association. Beck earlier served on the AMT board of directors from 1993 to 2003 and was chairman of the board in 2000-2001.

Newly elected to a three-year term as a member of the association?s board of directors is Steven R. Stokey, executive vice president, Allied Machine & Engineering Corp. (Dover, OH). Stokey joined the company full time in 1987 after earning his degree in industrial and systems engineering from Ohio State University. He has served in various roles within the organization with a heavy emphasis in manufacturing engineering, process development and quality management systems. Currently, he and his brother Mike oversee the day-to-day operations of the company.

Carl Reed, president and CEO, Abbott Workholding Products (Manhattan, KS), has been elected to return for a three-year term. He purchased the company in 1990 after serving in various positions in semi-conductor manufacturing and aerospace component firms. He is an industrial technology graduate of Arizona State University and a former naval aviator. Reed is a member of the AMT Government Relations Committee and the Advanced Workholding Technology Group. He previously served on the AMT Board of Directors from 2007-2009.

AMT, founded in 1902 as the National Machine Tool Builders? Association, supports and promotes the U.S. manufacturing technology industry by providing U.S. builders of manufacturing systems with the latest information on technical developments, trade and marketing opportunities, and economic issues. It also gathers and disseminates information about world markets, promotes its members? products in those markets, and acts as a representative on manufacturing technology matters to governments and trade organizations throughout the world.
