SMALLEST LASER SYSTEM FOR STANDARD SHEET METAL SIZES

The ByVention compact cutting system from Bystronic Inc. uses either 2.2 kW or 4.4 kW of laser power to process steel, stainless steel and aluminum sheets with a thickness of between 3/16 in to 1/2 in.

The ByVention laser cutting machine from Bystronic Inc. (Hauppauge, NY) is the smallest laser cutting system for standard sheet metal formats. It is now available with either a 2200 watt or a 4400 watt laser source. The version with the 4.4 kW laser is supplied as standard with two cutting heads (5 in and 7.5 in). With the 2.2 kW version, the 7.5 in cutting head is offered as an optional extra. Regardless of which laser source is chosen, this system can now be optionally upgraded with the ByVision high-performance control.

Thanks to the higher laser power, this laser cutting machine achieves higher cutting speeds. Furthermore, the piercing times are reduced and the productive time increases significantly since fewer separation cuts have to be made. The ByVention with 4.4 kW of laser power provides these advantages from a material thickness of 1/8 in and up. The higher power also means greater cost efficiency in these thicknesses, using 100 percent more power with a footprint just seven percent larger.

To save space, the ByLaser 4400 is integrated into the chassis of the machine, making the ByVention the smallest laser cutting system for standard sheet metal formats. The exceptional cutting precision of the this system is not least due to the vibration-reducing mineral composite machine frame. Thanks to the doubled laser power and the additional 7.5 in cutting head, this precision has been extended to the processing of thicker metal sheets.

More flexibility, greater operating convenience and a significantly increased potential for processing special parts are achieved thanks to the high-performance ByVision control package that is now optionally available for the this system. This is particularly true for high-end users. Less experienced users continue to benefit from the simple and logical operation via the manual operating panel with a touch screen and the pre-defined programs and cutting parameters.

The potential of the ByVention equipped with 4.4 kW of laser power can in particular be taken advantage of with the processing of steel, stainless steel and aluminum sheets with a thickness of between 3/16 in to ½ in and when particular importance is placed on oxide-free cutting edges. When using nitrogen, this system already offers clear speed advantages from a sheet metal thickness of 22 ga and thicker.

Bystronic Inc. has offered customers single source service expertise for over 30 years. They provide innovative laser cutting, waterjet cutting and press brake systems, system software and comprehensive customer training and support. The company?s North American headquarters is located in Hauppauge, with other offices in Chicago, Los Angeles, Toronto, Canada and Guadalajara, Mexico.
