Hypertherm (Hanover, NH), a world leader in plasma arc metal cutting technology, recently announced its selection by Business New Hampshire magazine as the Best Large Company to Work For in New Hampshire.

In naming Hypertherm as the top large company in the state, judges cited the company?s respect for its associates, no layoff policy and the creative strategies the company is taking to keep everyone employed. Rather than cutting back, the firm has continued to offer its channel partners a high level of support through the current economic downturn.

The Best Company selection process is rigorous. To be considered, companies need to complete extensive applications which detail benefit packages, company culture, communication tools, employee development strategies, and workplace philosophy. In addition, each company needs to include letters of support from associates.

The field was narrowed to 21 semi-finalists by a panel of Business NH Magazine judges earlier this year. From there, a panel of four outside judges evaluated the semi-finalist applications while a second group of judges, consisting of CEOs and human resources professionals from across the state, visited each company to conduct on-site interviews and tours. The judges then combined scores from the applications and site tours to determine the ten finalists.

The annual Best Companies list is sponsored by Business NH Magazine and New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility. Leaders from the ten winning companies will share their best practices at a Breakfast with the Best forum scheduled to take place on February 18 in Manchester, NH.

Hypertherm designs and manufactures advanced plasma cutting systems for use in a variety of industries, such as shipbuilding, manufacturing, and automotive repair. Its product line includes handheld and mechanized plasma systems, plasma and laser consumables, as well as CNC motion and height controls and cutting software. The New Hampshire-based company?s reputation for plasma innovation dates back more than 40 years, to 1968, with its invention of water injection plasma cutting. The company, consistently named one of the best places to work in America, has more than 1,000 associates along with operations and partner representation worldwide.
