Shortly after the turn of the century, Carl M. Yoder became interested in the problems confronting the automotive industry. The automobile industry was in its infancy then. Henry Ford was experimenting and perfecting his invention, Walter Chrysler was busy solving some of the intricacies of the internal combustion engine, and Harvey Firestone was perfecting his automobile tire.

Working in a second floor room of his own home, Yoder made a drafting table out of an old wood bedstead and designed the first cold forming and bending machine to form the mud-ledge, or stiffener, on automobile fenders. The year was 1910.

A pioneer of roll forming and tube mill technology since 1910, The Yoder Company (Cleveland, OH) has a long reputation of providing equipment built to last a lifetime.

The company is turning 100 years old this year and is now looking for the oldest Yoder machinery in production. Do you have a Yoder machine from the 1930s, 1940s or 1950s that is still in production? Have you inherited a Yoder machine that you think may be old? Or are you just curious of the history on your Yoder equipment? If you are interested in participating, please send us:

? Yoder Serial Number
? Model of the Yoder Machine (if you know)

? Digital picture of the Yoder machine

? Address where Yoder machine is currently installed

With that information, we will compile the information to find out the oldest Yoder machine in production. The winner will be featured in our 100th anniversary marketing campaign. Please email your information to Yoder@formtekgroup.com.
