EXTENDED LIFE ABS TOOLING FOR AMADA TURRET PRESSES

Mate Precision Tooling’s new AMX? ABS tooling combines special lubrication features with high-speed steel to extend tool life and ensure quality punching.

Mate Precision Tooling (Anoka, MN) introduced its new AMX? ABS tooling with special lubrication features and high-speed steel, designed to extend tool life while ensuring quality punching. Mate's punches and strippers are 100 percent-compatible with Amada ABS assemblies and holders, offering customers a superior replacement tooling alternative.

Mate AMX ABS tooling includes internal lubrication within the punch guide and external lubrication between the punch guide and the turret bore. This internal lubrication of all critical tool components helps prevent galling, slivering and slug pulling. The AMX ABS lubrication functions are computer controlled within the turret press and can be programmed and regulated according to punching requirements.

Mate's AMX tooling system increases tool performance and flexibility, while allowing its use with existing systems. For customers with special application needs, optional Maxima? coatings and Nitride treatments are available. Maxima is a lubricious coating that acts as a barrier between the punch and sheet metal, greatly improving stripping. Nitride is a heat treatment for abrasive and adhesive wear environments when punching thin materials that helps extend tool life.

Precision machined of premium M2 high-speed steel, Mate's AMX punches combine with hardened and ground stripper guides to reduce galling, wear and heat, ultimately extending both tool and turret life. This results in very high tool performance, superior dimensional accuracy and maximum tool life.

The Mate AMX tooling is available in A and B station punches, stripper guides and assemblies as well as C, D and E station punches and strippers designed for use in all Amada machines equipped with ABS capability. "The expansion of Mate's product line with the introduction of AMX tooling gives fabricators more options in planning their fabricating projects," reports John Galich, Mate marketing manager. "With Mate's full range of tooling systems, users can choose exactly the tooling that will suit their projects best. In short, they finally have a superior choice."
