FEIN Power Tools (Pittsburgh, PA) delivers unmatched flexibility in its new line of GRIT by FEIN modular grinding machines, which provide sustained levels of high performance over long use periods. The GRIT GX belt-grinding machines employ a modular system, allowing add-ons to be fitted in a matter of minutes. As a result, trade retailers do not need large storage areas to stock this product, and users benefit from the high degree of flexibility, according to Vince Grlovich, vice president of sales, FEIN Power Tools, Inc.

"In addition to exceptional flexibility, the modular concept also reduces purchase costs because you only invest in the modules you actually need to have. This sets GRIT apart from competing machines," he said. "The vast array of combination options creates a comprehensive range of modules, satisfying the challenging requirements of industrial businesses involved in volume production."

Rationalized grinding processes and a reduction in the number of processes involved in a single task are the defining features of the GRIT range of products. With sustained levels of high performance over long and extended periods of operation, the GRIT belt-grinding machines are well-suited to all applications, from rough grinding to finishing work, stock removal, rotary grinding, bore grinding, deburring and surface grinding ? making it an ideal tool for the entire metal-grinding sector.

Basic machines feature several variants, each offering two different belt widths. As an optional feature, professional suction/extraction attachments can be supplied with all machine bases. GRIT machines can be expanded to radius, rotary and surface grinding modules. With the "mobile sanding" module, belt-sanding machines can be employed for work at floor level ? an effective way, for example, of sanding down welded seams on the ground, according to Grlovich.

The GRIT GI product range includes separate special-purpose machines. The GI 100 belt-grinding machine can act as a table-top machine for finer work, such as fitting out vehicle interiors. This unit comes with either one or two speed settings. The same applies to the centerless rotary grinder for tubes and the deburring machine for removing burrs and polishing tubes, profiles or square pipes, which are also suitable for use as table-mounted machines.

FEIN supplies a range of accessories for these machines, including three variants of grinding medium that feature superlative removal performance levels and longer-than-average service life. Series A (red-brown) achieves optimum surface quality, while Series Z (blue) has ultra-resistant grinding grains made of a zirconium-corundum mix, guaranteeing long service life. The R Series was developed for extreme grinding operations, including the machining of ultra-strong materials. Characteristic features of the R Series are the additional multi-bonding layer and a robust polyester support to deliver maximum service life. With these grinding media and additional accessories, GRIT offers a complete professional range of products for machining stainless steel and other metals.
