VIRTUALLY ELIMINATE SLIPPAGE WHEN MACHINING

With its patented two-stage clamping mechanism, Albrecht’s APC Milling Chuck produces extremely high gripping torque, enabling machine tools to run more aggressively.

Posted: May 13, 2010

The Albrecht (Hauppauge, NY) APC Milling Chuck utilizes a patented two-stage clamping mechanism to produce extremely high gripping torque, virtually eliminating the risk of cutting tool slippage and enabling machine tools to run at much more aggressive speeds and feed rates.

This clamping mechanism consists of a worm-and gear assembly that achieves superior mechanical advantage over direct-drive systems, and a specially coated slow-taper collet that forms a near-perfect locking interface with the chuck body. The gripping force achieved through the combination of the worm/gear assembly and locking taper significantly exceeds that of other commonly used systems.

Additional advantages of the Albrecht APC Milling Chuck include high rigidity and advanced vibration-dampening capabilities. A guaranteed accuracy of 0.00012 in TIR or better at 2.5 x diameter ensures superior part quality and prolongs cutting tool life. All APC Milling Chucks are high-pressure rated to 1400 psi, and are balanced to G2.5@20,000 rpm for high-speed operation.

The Albrecht APC is available in many common taper configurations, including: CAT-40, CAT-50, BT-30, BT-40, BT-50, HSK-63, HSK-100, and CAPTO-C6. The tool's interchangeable collets come in both standard and sealed configurations and cover all common inch and metric cutting tool sizes ranging from 0.125 in (3 mm) to 1.25 in (32 mm). Various length options and a selection of extensions provide clearance for machining in hard-to-reach areas.
