GRINDER FOR CONCAVE CAMSHAFT SHAPES

The SCHAUDT CamGrind S from United Grinding is equipped with a swiveling spindle and can be lubricated with emulsion or oil and uses CBN grinding wheels with a maximum diameter of 480 mm.

The CamGrind S, a compact and versatile grinding machine with the SPEED-LOAD integrated loading system, grinds camshafts up to 650 mm in length and is equipped with a swiveling spindle patented by SCHAUDT, making it well suited to working on concave camshaft shapes, according to United Grinding (Miamisburg, OH), the North American arm of the company.

In spite of a maximum grinding length of 650 mm, the CamGrind S only needs 3.0 m x 3.35 m of floor space including the control cabinet and peripheral equipment. This versatile machine can be lubricated with emulsion or oil and uses CBN grinding wheels with a maximum diameter of 480 mm.

Conventional workpiece changing times can be reduced up to 4 seconds through the intelligent combination of mechanics and electrics with the newest grip arm technology as well as spatially and geometrically optimized mechanics. The loader does not need a gantry since the machine uses a keyhole system that requires less floor space. Inside the machine room, there are no cables and no sensors or power leads that could lead to failure, resulting in increased machine up-time.

The loading of workpieces uses compact basket restacking cells with an automatic basket feed. The SPEED-LOAD works self sufficiently and can be connected with the next cell, as the system automatically collects the workpiece carriers from the transport carts. All workpieces remain on their own carrier. Each workpiece carrier is returned on the same transport cart on which it was brought into the system, resulting in simple batch tracing.
