METAL-CORED WELDING WIRES REDUCE COSTLY REWORK

Tri-Mark® Metalloy® Vantage wires from Hobart Brothers reduce silicon island formation to minimize cleanup for painting and improve welding productivity.

Posted: July 30, 2010

To help improve productivity and reduce welding costs, Hobart Brothers (Troy, OH) offers its Tri-Mark® Metalloy® Vantage? family of gas-shielded metal-cored wires. The Metalloy Vantage series features patented technology that reduces silicon island formation and produces weld bead toe lines that are almost completely free of silicon deposits to minimize cleaning prior to painting, coating, or plating.

The Metalloy Vantage wire is the ultimate choice for single- or multi-pass welding on carbon steel applications, including those in the railcar, automotive, heavy equipment manufacturing and general fabrication industries. Designed for high strength low allow steels, it provides excellent wet-in capabilities and produces clean weld beads with minimal silicon islands, especially when used with higher content Argon shielding gas blends i.e. (90 percent Ar/10 percent CO2).

The Metalloy Vantage D2 welding alloy wire reduces the need for parts preparation and minimizes post-weld cleanup and its associated costs. Vantage D2 works well for high strength, low alloy steels, provides excellent wet-in and sidewall fusion. It also offers higher deposition rates and faster travel speeds than equivalent ER80S-D2 solid wires for greater overall productivity.

Metalloy Vantage Ni1 wire is designed for welding nickel-molybdenum steel and excels on applications that require higher toughness when joining HSLA (high strength low alloy) or on weathering steels where color match is not necessary. Each of the Metalloy Vantage wires create low spatter levels, which minimizes downtime and costs by reducing the need to clean prior to painting, coating or plating. All Metalloy Vantage wires also increase travel speeds and provide high deposition rates to improve productivity, while improved wetting action provides excellent gap bridging capabilities and good sidewall fusion.
