NEW VENTURE TO COMPETE IN DOMESTIC KNIFE BLADE MARKET

Carpenter Technology collaborates with SB Specialty Metals to manufacture, distribute and service sport and military knife blade materials into both the U.S. and Canada.

Carpenter Technology Corporation (Wyomissing, PA) a leader in the development and manufacture of high-performance specialty alloys, announced an exclusive deal with SB Specialty Metals LLC (Dallas, TX). Together, the two companies will bring sport and military knife blade materials to a much broader market in both the U.S. and Canada.

?This is an ideal collaboration,? said Andrew Ziolkowski, vice president of Carpenter?s Bar and Coil Business. ?We are bringing a leading, high-quality material development and production company together with the blade industry?s top service provider and distributor.?

Under the terms of the venture, Carpenter will produce its Carpenter CTS? suite of materials featuring the highly sought after CTS XHP and CTS BD1 alloys. SB Specialty Metals, formerly a part of Crucible Materials Corp., will then distribute the cutting blade materials and provide customer service.
