The Kitamura (Wheeling, IL) Mycenter-HX400iF, with simultaneous full 4th axis machining capabilities and solid box way construction is equipped standard with high-speed rapids of 1,969 ipm on the X, Y and Z axes, driven by patented twin ballscrew and dual feedback technology. With a maximum workpiece size of Ø25.6 in x 37.8 in within an expansive work envelope and a table load capacity of 880 lb, the Mycenter-HX400iF offers the size, rigidity, construction and accuracy necessary for both multi-part tombstone fixturing and complex multi-angle medium- to large-part machining.

?With this system, every component surface is finished by hand-scraping,? says Dr. Akihiro Kitamura, PhD, the company?s president. ?This attention to detail and quality is Kitamura?s assurance of maximum resale value and long machine tool life, providing a competitive advantage to the buyer.?

The Mycenter-HX400iF horizontal machining center offers up both high cutting torque and 13,000 rpm spindle speeds. Standard is a 25 hp AC spindle motor with a dual contact, two-speed geared head. The energy-efficient geared head enables the Mycenter-HX400iF to reach full power at 652 rpm, with maximum torque output of 270 Nm (199 ft-lb). A 20,000 rpm gear-driven spindle system is an available option for high-velocity metal removal.

The Mycenter-HX400iF comes standard with a two-station, 180 deg rotating pallet changer system that provides optimum operator convenience and can be upgraded to a total of 21 pallets in the field as customer needs change. Optional Flexible Manufacturing Systems are also available tailored to each individual customer?s manufacturing requirements. A 50-tool ATC is standard with a 1 sec tool change time. Up to 200 tools can be added in field for added flexibility without long lead times.

A full 4th axis rotary table is a standard feature on all Kitamura horizontal machining centers, allowing the customer to machine complex, multi-sided parts without separate operations or special equipment. The table is capable of indexing at 0.36 sec for 90 deg (15,000 deg/min) rapid feed, enabling positioning at any angle very quickly and comes standard with an ultra high precision rotary scale for optimum accuracy (resolution 0.0001 deg.).

For increased spindle utilization and flexibility in the machining process, the Mycenter-HX400iF can be expanded to a full scale simultaneous 5-axis machine in the field with Kitamura?s machine specific 5th axis retrofits. A cost effective way to save on set-up time, increase production rates and improve accuracy.
