Seco Tools Inc. (Troy, MI) Duratomic grade MP1500 is designed to be the perfect choice for customers who want maximum performance in milling steel, achieving more parts machined in less time. Field tests comparing the MP1500 to its replaced grade show a 135- to 200-percent increase in output and 150-percent increase in tool life. When compared to similar competitors' grades, MP1500 is less sensitive in roughing operations, able to utilize higher feed rates and has a more wear resistant coating.

Seco's MP1500 has relatively low cobalt content, which combined with the selected gain size, provides notable wear resistance and hardness (HV101500). The MP1500, enhanced with the Duratomic coating technology, reduces the heat transferred during the cutting process; therefore higher cutting data can be used.
