A line of cut-off wheels that feature a thin profile to cut stainless steel cooler and faster than standard resinoid wheels and produce a smaller exit bur is available from Rex-Cut Products, Inc. (Fall River, MA).
Rex-Cut ALPHA-GREEN cut-off wheels for stainless steel are only 0.040 in thick, which lets them cut faster and run cooler than conventional resinoid wheels. Designed for straight and right-angle grinders, these thin profile cut-off wheels produce a clean cut with a smaller exit bur and work up to twice as fast on stainless steel as conventional resinoid wheels, claims the firm.
Rex-Cut ALPHA-GREEN Cut-Off Wheels come in Type 1 straight-sided and Type 27 depressed center styles in 3 in, 4 in, 4-1/2 in, 5 in, 6 in and 7 in dia sizes. For cutting aluminum, a 46 grit 0.045 in profile version is also available.
