Roland DGA Corporation (Irvine, CA) has expanded its line of dental milling machines with the addition of the DWX-50, the most advanced dental milling machine to date. The compact and easy to use DWX-50 is an advanced 5-axis production tool for creating precision dental prosthetics, including copings, crowns, full bridges and abutments, using aesthetically-preferred zirconia, wax and PMMA.

Designed to streamline the production process, the DWX-50 features 5-axis simultaneous machining capability and a 5-station automatic tool changer with tool length sensor for added production convenience. The milling machine is also equipped with a virtual panel for easy desktop operation, as well as a diagnostic notification system that alerts the operator of system errors or job completion, enabling dental laboratories and technicians to carry out the milling process with minimal operator intervention.

“Until now, investing in advanced dental milling technology has been cost prohibitive for many labs and technicians,” said Pedro Gonzalez, the Roland product manager for 3D milling and scanning products. “The DWX-50 is powerful, yet affordable, making it easy for professionals to add a state-of-the-art 5-axis mill to their lab.” Other key features include an integrated air blower system that aids with difficult to machine materials, such as PMMA, along with a built-in dust collection tray that can be easily connected to any lab vacuum system, keeping the cutting area clean and free of debris.

The DWX-50 supports a wide range of software and tools and is built on open technology, allowing for easy integration with any commercially available dental prosthetic production solution. Additionally, the DWX-50 offers multicast capability, making it possible to connect up to four machines to one computer, which enables dental laboratories to increase production capability at a fraction of the cost. Based on 20 years of Roland’s proven 3D milling technology, the DWX-50 is the newest addition to the company’s line of dental mills. The 4-axis DWX-30 is also available for the production of copings and crowns.
