Gouging System for Hundreds of Metal Fabrication Uses

The N7500 gouging system from Arcair can be utilized on almost all metals, including stainless steel, carbon, manganese, and chrome-moly steels. It is perfect for work with pressure vessels, wind towers, shipbuilding, railroads, bridge and girder manufacturing, and with heavy equipment used in mining industries.

With unsurpassed versatility, the system’s synergic mode ensures conformity to pre-determined, pre-selected groove depth and width specifications. A single electrode contact shoe assembly accepts the entire range of Arcair gouging electrodes from 5/16 in (7.9 mm) through ¾ in (19.1 mm).

For an enhanced gouging function, the system features a torch head with an extended front end to give the welder/operator better range of viewing during the gouging operation, and to ensure that the electrode is maintained in the correct position to the weld seam. A unique “travel delay” function assures excellent groove geometry at the very beginning of the groove: this function avoids a sloped groove at the beginning of the gouge, thus eliminating the need for a starting pad.

In addition, a rough machining feature allows the operator to stall the feed of the electrode to compensate for pitted area or out-of-rough steel rolls, thereby maintaining the concentricity of the shaft/roll.

For added safety, the N7500 was designed with a “no current” detect and low voltage functions that shut down the system when these conditions are sensed. These functions ensure optimum groove quality and prevent damage to the equipment and work. All electronic components are enclosed in a splash-proof panel design to operate in high humidity/outside conditions and withstand impact from a distance of three ft. As a bonus feature, use the remote pendant to track actual arc time to help schedule routine maintenance; additionally, it enables you to monitor and manage cost of the gouging project/job.

The N7500 can be used with various power supplies available in the industry. It utilizes the contactor in the welding power supply unit thereby eliminating the need for the external contactor unit. One unit can service both the domestic (120 VAC) and the foreign market (220 VAC).

Arcair®is a leader in air carbon arc gouging, exothermic cutting and underwater cutting and welding products, providing a complete line for a wide-range of industry uses. Products include manual and automated gouging equipment, torches, accessories and carbon electrodes. www.thermadyne.com
