An overview of the company and its organization, products, services and capabilities.

RAM Optical Instrumentation (RAM), a division of Quality Vision International Inc. (QVI®), now offers a full-function digital measuring machine, the QVI SNAP™. SNAP represents a breakthrough in ease of use and capability for non-contact digital measuring machines (DMMs). Simply walk up to SNAP, place a part on its stage, and measure, quickly, easily, and accurately.

SNAP’s telecentric optics offer a generous 78 mm field of view and a large focal range. With 75 mm of vertical worktable adjustment, SNAP has the measurement volume to handle a wide variety of parts.
• SNAP’s unique optics, camera and software provide distinct advantages over conventional vision systems or other DMMs.
• SNAP’s optics are truly telecentric. Features measure accurately over its large depth of focus.
• SNAP’s digital image processing is fast. A single video snapshot can include dozens of measurements.
• SNAP’s lighting options are the most complete and versatile in the industry, with a patented color ring light for surface features, and an intense squareon surface light for looking deep into bores and cavities.
• A megapixel camera provides high definition video images with up to 50:1 sub-pixel resolution. Advanced digital image processing allows zooming in on any part of the field of view to isolate and measure small details with up to 50 nanometer resolution — without moving the part.

Powerful Measure-X® 2D metrology software provides a full range of feature and coordinate measurements, with unlimited numbers of points or measurement steps in a routine. To program, just place a part on the stage and measure, or you can start with a CAD import. Once a routine is programmed, subsequent parts may be placed on the stage in any orientation — Measure-X’s unique Autocorrelate function automatically recognizes the parts and measures them, with no operator setup required.
