This two-turret, two-spindle multitasking turning center is cast from Meehanite iron and loaded with extra features not found on comparable machines in its class.

Absolute Machine Tools, Inc. (Lorain, OH), an exclusive North American distributor for several lines of advanced CNC machines, showcases brand new technology from OEMs Tongtai and Quicktech.

Of special interest is the two-turret, two-spindle Tongtai TMT-2000 8-axis Multitasking Turning Center cast from Meehanite iron. The TMT-2000 is loaded with extra features not found on comparable machines in its class. It is designed with a 75 deg mono-block slant bed offering excellent rigidity, chip flow, and helpful operator ergonomics. The perpendicular Y-axis leads to simplified programming while high power synchronized spindles provide fast acceleration and deceleration times. X, Y, Z rapid traverse rates are 1181 ipm, 590 ipm, and 1417 ipm.

Two servo-driven live turrets with a hefty BMT-65 tool system and with Y-axis on the upper turret, enhance productivity and reduce cycle times. Maximum turning diameter is 12.6 in and maximum swing is 28.3 in. Because of its inherent rigidity, users can take full advantage of the 20 hp main high torque spindle motor and the synchronous 25 hp oil-cooled subspindle. The 4500 rpm main spindle with 2.5 in bar capacity provides ample power and unsurpassed acceleration while the 6000 rpm subspindle has a 2 in bar capacity. Both feature a full contouring C-axis directed by the Fanuc 31iT-B control.

The frame design allows the X and Z axes to be perpendicular to each other, greatly improving accuracy and simplifying programming. To additionally ensure precision and thermal stability, the headstock, subspindle, and saddles are all mounted on the same plane. The precision ballscrews are double-nut type and pre-tensioned to eliminate thermal growth. www.absolutemachine.com
