These high precision CNC grinding machines with four-axis to seven-axis robotic systems are perfect for producing cutlery, hand tools, surgical instruments and similar items where precise tolerances must be met.

In the production of cutlery, hand tools, surgical instruments and similar items precise tolerances must be met. The measuring technique in connection with robotics is of great importance in the field of grinding and polishing, which are the core competence of HeinzBerger Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG (Wuppertal, Germany).

In Booth N-7259 at IMTS 2012, the company features more than 100 different types of CNC controlled grinding machines with four-axis to seven-axis robotic systems of different types. The stations can be employed as manufacturing cells for a wide range of workpieces, such as nippers or tweezers, and can be integrated into a complete production line such as a robotic deburring station. A basic robotic program is adapted to the customer requirements by a teach position.

Additional measuring stations measure each workpiece automatically before processing to compensate for tolerances. The results are stored in the robotic program and can be reused.

Grinding belts or polishing wheels can be used to process grinding wheels. The movement of the tools or the movement of the workpieces can be generated by the robots. The robotic control compensates the wear of grinding belts. The feeding of the workpieces can be accomplished by different magazine systems, such as chain magazines, sliding magazines, magazine cartridges or rotary table magazines. www.heinzberger.de
