Four new small-frame turning centers from Hardinge increase throughput and reduce cycle time on small-to-medium size complex parts, while a new grinding machine is ideal for aerospace, defense, energy, tool room, motorsport, automotive volume production and general engineering applications.
Hardinge Inc. (Elmira, NY) releases four new turning centers in the GS 42MS, GS 51MS, GS 150MS and GS 200MS. These small-frame machines are ideal for small-to-medium size workpieces and offer expanded levels of functionality to address complex parts, resulting in increased throughput and reduced cycle time in a single setup.
Both the GS 42MS and GS 51MS machines feature collet-ready main spindles, while the GS 150MS and the GS 200MS are chuck machines that are supplied with 3-jaw chucks. The GS 42MS and 150 MS use an A2-5 in, 6,000 rpm main spindle, while the GS 51MS and GS 200MS use a larger A2-6 in, 5,000 rpm main spindle. Sub spindles, live tooling, C-Axis and Fanuc 0i-TD controls are standard on all models. Options include parts catcher, part probe, tool probe, chip conveyor, servo or hydraulic tailstock to name a few.
The Hardinge Grinding Group introduces the new 2 m capacity UltraGrind 2000 grinding machine manufactured by Jones & Shipman, a Kellenberger Company, which is a subsidiary of Hardinge Inc. The machine design features a new wheelhead that provides a wide choice of external and internal grinding spindle combinations, effectively creating a custom machine without the cost and build time associated with it.
The wheelhead offers wheel sizes up to Ø500 x 100 mm and wheel spindle power up to 11 kW. The ongoing need for high geometric accuracy with quick changeovers on cylindrical grinding machines is a key factor in the development of the robust UltraGrind series, which was designed for manufacturers of complex precision parts in small-to-medium size volumes that need maximum flexibility. Flexibility combined with ease-of-use improves productivity, keeping component prices competitive and matching some high-volume production systems that rely on using multiple machines.
