Several product lines have migrated between the two brands, as Bernard now offers only semi-automatic MIG guns and the Tregaskiss brand is focused exclusively on robotic MIG guns and peripherals.

Bernard Welding Equipment (Beecher, IL) manufactures premium semi-automatic GMAW (MIG) and FCAW (flux-cored) welding guns, consumables, accessories and manual arc products. For more than 60 years, Bernard has been an innovator in heavy-duty MIG welding and a contributor to improved welding productivity. Bernard is a division of Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW; Glenview, IL), a diversified multinational manufacturer of highly engineered components, assemblies and systems.

Tregaskiss (Windsor, ON) is an industry leader in the development and manufacture of robotic MIG welding guns, peripherals and consumables, and offers its products worldwide. Its brands include TOUGH GUN™ Robotic MIG Guns and Peripherals, TOUGH LOCK™ Consumables, QUICK LOAD™ Liners and TOUGH GARD™ Anti-Spatter Products. Tregaskiss is a division of ITW Canada Inc., another wholly owned subsidiary of ITW.

Bernard and Tregaskiss have now partnered to launch a new branding initiative. As part of this initiative, several product lines have migrated between the two brands. Bernard now offers only semi-automatic MIG guns and the Tregaskiss brand is focused exclusively on robotic MIG guns and peripherals. The change is effective immediately.

“Previously, both companies offered semi-automatic and robotic products, which tended to create confusion in the marketplace,” said Darren Grey, the director of semi-automatic products for Bernard and Tregaskiss. “This strategic decision to simplify the brands will help eliminate unnecessary complexities for customers. It also allows each of the companies to focus on their core competencies and new product development — both aspects that benefit the customer long term.”

“Customers can be assured that they will still receive the same high-quality products and features as before, as well as the same excellent delivery and technical support,” added Grey. “The only change is the brand name on the product.”

Customers are still able to configure a semi-automatic or robotic MIG gun online using the Bernard and Tregaskiss MIG Gun Configurators, respectively, at BernardWelds.com/ConfigureMyGun and Tregaskiss.com/ConfigureMyGun.

Under the new branding initiative, all Tregaskiss semi-automatic MIG guns are rebranded under the Bernard name. For example, the Tregaskiss™ TOUGH GUN™ and TGX™ Semi-Automatic MIG Guns is now called Bernard™ T-Gun™ and Bernard TGX Semi-Automatic MIG Guns, respectively. Similarly, all robotic MIG guns previously manufactured by Bernard are made by and branded as Tregaskiss.

According to the companies, all semi-automatic and robotic MIG guns continue to use their native consumables, regardless of the brand change. The Bernard T-Gun and TGX Semi-Automatic MIG Guns still use TOUGH LOCK™ Consumables, while all Bernard robotic MIG guns that shift to the Tregaskiss brand continue to use Centerfire™, Quik Tip™ and Bernard Elliptical Series Consumables.

Bernard and Tregaskiss informed their welding distributors nationwide of this initiative. Customers with questions about the branding transition can contact their local welding distributor for more information. They may also contact Bernard customer service directly at 800-946-2281 or info@bernardwelds.com, or Tregaskiss customer service at 877-737-3111 or info@tregaskiss.com.
