Automated Laser Marking for Aerospace, Medical, Tools, Defense

The rotating and moving scan head on the CompactMark from Haco Atlantic-Lasit, USA marks long cylindrical parts, medical parts, drill bits, tools, gun receivers with engraving to 0.020 in deep or high contrast black annealed marks with varying geometries and heights without moving the parts.

Haco Atlantic-Lasit, USA (Houston, TX) proudly introduces its newest generation CompactMark®, a rugged, industrial laser marking system with a wide range of features offering versatility and capability. The fully enclosed rigid welded steel Class One system (or optional Class IV with open door) is ideal for marking stainless steels, carbide, titanium, brass, silver, gold, steel, aluminum, plastics and many organic materials such as glass, paper, cardboard and textiles, and is fully air cooled, eliminating the need and cost for water chilling.

The XYZ control is optimized through the use of a smooth joystick. Together with the flexible preview features and the SmartFocus®, the system is designed for ease of use in positioning various single parts. This system is available with XY Tables or Full Gantry and a Moving Scan Head. When cylindrical marks are required, this system provides the most flexibility in the industry. The CompactMark® can be equipped with an optional fully automatic W-axis (rotary indexer) to minimize any downtime in changing over from the table to the rotary indexer.

The system can be customized with five axes and additional features, including W-axis, Pick and Place, Palletized Shuttles, Conveyors, and Pneumatic Lifts as well as an expanded enclosure for increasing productivity of large trays of parts (up to two meters). This system can also provide a rotating scan head which provides marking around multiple cylindrical parts at one time (allows operator to mark large trays of parts). It also can be configured as a gantry in which the table is fixed and the head moves in XY and Z, a function that provides the ultimate flexibility in marking parts of varying heights, shapes with curved as well as flat surfaces all automatically with moving head.

The system can mark long cylindrical parts, medical parts, drill bits, tools, gun receivers with engraving to 0.020 in deep or high contrast black annealed marks. Micro-marking, such as 32 characters on the head of an eye-glass size screw, is now possible with the built-in vision system for location of part and marks. The rigid welded steel body provides precision machining, which allows repeatable positioning as well as precise marking when using additional fixtures to support the parts. The motors are all servo-driven, with 2,048 lines per revolution and an integrated encoder that prevents marking the parts in the wrong position.

These marking systems are used to create high resolution permanent marks with the most advanced FlyControl and FlyCad Software (with on the fly capability) which provides the highest quality marking for alpha-numerics, bar codes, data matrix, UID, serialization, graphics, and logos. Materials that can be marked include chrome, stainless and steel, nickel, carbide, glass, galvanized metals, rubber, backlit buttons, graphite, aluminum, titanium, and most plastics, paper, ceramic, stone. This marking system can be customized into the following models to suit any company’s needs:

  • 20, 30, 50, Watt FiberFly – air cooled, no consumables, high reliability, high definition marking or deep engraving with a fully unconditional warranty.
  • 100 Watt FiberFly – water cooled.
  • FlyAir 12 Watt Vanadate – air cooled, advanced end pumped vanadate laser with short pulse duration for precision marking of fine details and delicate surfaces. Life expectancy is over 15,000 hours.
  • Fly 50 or 70 Watts – water cooled, side pumped Nd:Yag with quality beam resulting in larger spot size ideal for annealing and larger marks. Enhanced reliability.
  • C02: 10- 100 Watts – air cooled. High quality Gaussian beam profile, high reliability.
  • Green – ideal for marking on plastics & rubber that require greater contrast than Fiber or Vanadate such as certain rubbers.
