Paul Huber is honored with the Frank T. McGinnis Merit Award for his contribution and volunteer services to the precision metalworking industry.

Paul Huber, the president of Continental Machinery Exchange Corporation (COMEX®; Bridgeport, CT), was honored recently with the Frank T. McGinnis Merit Award by the Precision Machined Products Association (PMPA; Cleveland, OH) during its annual convention.

This award, first presented in 1946, recognizes the recipients’ contribution and volunteer services to the precision metalworking industry. In 2006 the PMPA bestowed the coveted Gold Micrometer Award to Huber, recognizing his industry leadership for over 40 years.

COMEX®, a new equipment and used machinery dealer, maintains a large stock of machines, attachments, spare parts and tooling in its 11,000 sq ft showroom and training facility that specializes in cam-operated Swiss type automatics and Esco wire feed automatics.

Huber is a strong advocate of enhancing skills training and skills certification programs at high schools and two-year colleges with metalworking programs. He is an active member of technical advisory committees at various high schools and colleges.

As a longtime member of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) he strongly supported the staff of the CBIA Education Foundation in its quests to sway the Connecticut Department of Education to adopt the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certification and accreditation program for all Connecticut Educational Institutions with metalworking manufacturing courses. That mission was accomplished a few years ago.

Huber joined NIMS as a volunteer board member in 1996 and is now on the executive board after serving a two-year term from 2005-2007 as its president. He has also served on the PMTS Educational Foundation board since 2001, and is a SkillsUSA Championship supporter, serving as the co-chair of the precision machining contest in 2006.

Huber served through the officer chairs of the PMPA Naugatuck Valley chapter from 1998-2001 and the New England chapter of the Machinery Dealers National Association (MDNA) from 1993 to 1996. He held Certified Equipment Appraiser certification issued by the Association of Machinery and Equipment Appraisers (AMEA) for almost twenty years. www.comexmachine.com
