Press Brake for Large Steel Fabrication
Northeastern Manufacturing and Sales was able to grow its large fabrication business by investing in a rugged 1000 ton, 22 ft K Series press brake from Pacific Press Technologies that uses the latest in optional fabricating equipment numerical controls to increase reliability and capacity and reduce operating costs.

The plant bends a lot of high strength steel, including plate steel up to one inch thick. Now they can bend any gauge steel with this single brake and use it for all their projects. All of the equipment features combined to give Rowell the flexibility he required and today, the plant enjoys increased productivity, reduced set up time and exceptional dimensional part quality. Additional features of the K Series brake include:
- Custom tonnage and bed length configurations
- Standard capacities ranging from 175 tons to 2000 tons
- 8 ft to 30 ft standard bed lengths
- Medium to Heavy-Gauge Bending
- Rigid, Interlocked Design
- Pre-Crowned Beds
Pacific trained the plant employees how to operate the new press brake over the course of about ten days. The new machine has allowed them to go from being able to bend two ten ft sections (on their previous 300 ton 12 ft press brake) to one 20 ft section. This has allowed the company to increase their customer base and to go after larger scale projects … and to cut the time it takes to produce their projects.
For example, press loading time used to require twenty minutes or more. Now they load the press, complete a bend cycle and unload it in around six minutes for a tapered pole. If the bend is off a little, the angle variance can quickly and easily be corrected by the operator through the control.
Northeastern can produce more accurate parts because real time data is being sent to the system. Rework is minimized and downstream production goes faster because what they’re receiving is as accurate as possible. This reduces material handling time and increases capacity.
Since 1945, Pacific Press Technologies has been committed to manufacturing products and providing services that offer their customers more value than they expect to receive.
