The manufacturer of 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machine centers welcomes an undergraduate college senior as its first intern, focusing on inbound marketing and social media engagement.

Diversified Machine Systems (Colorado Springs, CO) is excited to welcome Alex Norrod to the marketing team as their first intern for their emerging internship program, committed to getting proactive students involved with the manufacturing industry as well as giving them hands-on experience.

Norrod, a Chicago native, studied at The Latin School of Chicago High School and came to Colorado to double major in economics and music at Colorado College, where he also maintains the Packard music computer lab as the Lab Supervisor, providing assistance to students who require additional help and resources on their musical compositions, arrangements, and scores.

His diverse background with an eye for creative design made him an ideal candidate for this first position at DMS that requires attentiveness to detail and ability to capture the unique elements of manufacturing design.

His experience in basic filmmaking and his volunteer work at the no-kill animal shelter, PAWS has provided him experience on how to present content in new and appealing ways.

“Alex as referred to me by BrightSpark Co-Founder, Liz Lilly who thought he would be an perfect fit for the new marketing initiatives we’re taking on,” says the DMS director of marketing, Courtney Thurman. “I already appreciate his go-getter attitude with the intelligence to learn how to get things done. I’m excited for what we’ll be able to accomplish together.”

Based out of the new international headquarters in Colorado Springs, he will be taking on many hands-on tasks including developing content for blog posts, case studies, white papers, and video content for the purposes of creating a cohesive and informative asset library for the manufacturing industry.

“Not only is this a first for DMS, but it’s a first for me as well in my internship career,” explains Alex. “I really want to figure out how to generate more traffic through aesthetically-appealing media and I believe this is how I’ll learn these skills.”

In addition to inbound marketing efforts, Alex will also be assisting with the internal marketing department’s upcoming trade show and conference schedule, including the recently announced Woodworking Tradeshow – AWFS Fair in Las Vegas, Nevada.
