David M. Kerr is now responsible for managing a technical staff of 30 people in applications engineering, field service, inside service support, and spare parts.

Haas Factory Outlet Midwest, a Division of Midwest Manufacturing Resources, Inc. (Twinsburg, OH), has named David M. Kerr to the position of vice present of technical operations, responsible for managing a technical staff of 30 people in applications engineering, field service, inside service support, and spare parts.

“Dave is uniquely qualified to take on this role with his deep technical background, and will provide effective leadership for the growth of our business,” said David L. Tucker, the president of Midwest Manufacturing Resources.

Most recently Kerr was vice president and general manager of HFO Chicago, where he used his machine tool sales and service knowledge to fully support sales and led the improvement efforts and growth of the service department. Under his management last year, HFO Chicago achieved the coveted “Servicing Distributor of the Year Award” from Haas Automation Inc. (Oxnard, CA).

Kerr began his career in the machine tool industry in the 1980s, starting with Cincinnati Milacron for 20 years. During his tenure, he held many positions, including national service engineer specializing in vertical machining centers; regional service engineer; technical support specialist directing 12 engineers in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan; installation supervisor for grinding applications worldwide; manufacturing manager for the Modco division of Valenite; and ultimately service manager for UNOVA, responsible for service and turnkey applications projects.

Along with deepening his applications engineering and service expertise, he also acquired more experience on the sales side after Milicron when he was general manager of a Mori Seiki and Haas distributor in Michigan for 10 years. In this position, Kerr led the company to install more turnkey projects by applying his knowledge in automation and systems and bolstered the company’s experience in this area.

Midwest Manufacturing Resources is a division of Morris Group, Inc. Midwest Manufacturing Resources is a distributor for Haas Automation (hence the name Haas Factory Outlet – HFO Midwest), the largest machine tool builder in the United States.

Haas Automation manufactures a full line of CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers, CNC lathes, rotary tables, mini mills, super mini mills and 5C indexers. The company has installed over 8,500 machines in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and West Virginia. www.hfomidwest.com
