Diehl Steel (Cincinnati, OH) has installed a new plate mill that allows the company to custom machine steel material up to 30 in wide by 50 in long by 12 in in height. The plant can now machine larger sizes of tool steel, alloy steel, high speed steel, carbon steel, powder metal product and stainless steel to customer’s exact specifications and tolerances.
With a 20 in cutting head, the new plate mill eliminates the ridges that occur when cutting with smaller diameter cutters. The new plate mill is capable of producing Accu-Square™ steel products that are machined to toolmaker tolerances. The result is a flat, squared and parallel final block that saves time and increases productivity.
