The CUT 20 P Wire EDM competes in precision, time and surface roughness when machining jobs with two to four cuts. Its low energy consumption combined with the long working life of the wear parts reduces operating costs and helps to ensure profitability.

The CUT 20 P wire EDM from GF AgieCharmilles (Lincolnshire, IL) brings speed and increased performance to a variety of medical applications, including cannula tube machining. Furthermore, the machine satisfies the precision requirements of the most rigorous applications by effectively handling wire diameters from 0.006 in to 0.12 in.

The CUT 20 P comes standard with 0.10 in wire guides, while 0.006 in, 0.008 in and 0.012 in wire guides are also available. Furthermore, the machine’s low-maintenance, reliable wire threading system boasts autonomy and reduces operating costs.

Featuring X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 13.77 in x 9.84 in x 10 in, respectively, the CUT 20 P can accommodate maximum workpiece dimensions of 35.4 in length x 26.7 in width x 9.8 in height. When considering the machine’s fluid bath, the CUT 20 P can hold submerged workpieces weighing up to 960 lb. The machine also achieves taper cuts of ±25 deg in heights over 3.15 in.

The machine’s Integrated Collision Protection on the X-, Y- and Z-axes prevents any breakage of sensitive parts and costly elements, allowing the operator to work with more confidence during job preparation and execution. Furthermore, glass scales on the X- and Y-axes ensure exceptional positioning accuracy and highly repeatable results.

The CUT 20 P features a 17 in LCD console, as well as the intuitive HMI (human-machine interface), which is built on the Windows XP platform to enable easy integration into a data network via LAN. This unique programming increases flexibility in the production environment and also allows new users to learn and understand the wire EDM process quickly.

Adding to the smart design of control is the inclusion of GF AgieCharmilles’ “Speed” technology package, which allows the CUT 20 P to achieve competitive results in terms of precision, time and surface roughness when machining jobs with two to four cuts. The CUT 20 P’s low energy consumption combined with the long working life of the wear parts reduces operating costs and helps to ensure profitability.

GF AgieCharmilles also offers a variety of options for the CUT 20 P, including auxiliary M functions with a PLC device to make it possible to run or synchronize an indexer, and an alarm lamp for alerting operators to errors and finished processes.
