Whether seeking to negate vibration, eliminate distortion, provide powerful quick change options or strong clamping force, these two clamps make workholding easier across many machining applications.

Halder’s (Waukesha, WI) Floating Clamp does just what the name implies – it deftly floats into position, then helps to securely hold the work piece to prevent distortion during machining.

Imagine that all-too-familiar operation which produces vibration severe enough to cause you to throw everything at it to hold it firmly – only to realize the costly loss of materials and time anyway.

That’s why large companies from Boeing to small job shops are successfully using this clamp. Designed, developed and manufactured in Germany by the Erwin Halder KG company, the Floating Clamp is ideal for clamping and supporting responsive clamping points on work pieces.

The Halder Floating Clamp has benefits such as vibration control, eliminated distortion, mechanical operation for efficient set-up, five interchangeable clamping jaws for specific jobs, and a clamping force up to 8 kN (1,800 lb). The clamp is available in two sizes, M12 and M16.

In addition, the company recently developed an even more precise Floating Clamp with a separate clamp and locking feature.

Like its red-colored predecessor, the blue clamp is used for similar purposes – but is designed to gently and firmly clamp extremely pliable work pieces.

The second clamp that deserves a look is the rugged Compact Clamp with a moveable clamping lever. It can be used for universal applications – in either a horizontal or vertical position – in machined and raw work pieces.

A real workhorse clamp, this product is available in two sizes – an M12 model with a clamping force of 15 kN (3,370 lb), and an M16 with a clamping force of 25 kN (5,620 lb).

Some benefits of the Halder Compact Clamp include precision clamping, ease of operation, large adjusting range, continuous height adjustment, and easy release for quick removal of dirt and chips.
