Seco Tools (Troy, MI) has been named as one of “Michigan’s Best and Brightest in Wellness” for 2013, an award presented annually to organizations that are making their workplaces, their employees and the community a healthier place to live and work. Seco and other winning companies were honored at a breakfast celebration and symposium on October 3, 2013 at the VisTaTech Conference Center in Livonia.
The awards symposium honors companies and organizations that recognize and celebrate quality and excellence in worksite health promotion. The program highlights companies that promote a culture of wellness, and those that plan, implement and evaluate efforts in employee wellness promotion. Winning companies were evaluated using the WellCompanies assessment, created and administered by Wellco, the nation’s leading wellness systems firm.
“This is a great honor for Seco, as we place a high degree of emphasis on employee health and work-life balance,” said Dan Sikora, director of human resources. “We constantly strive to not only hire and retain the absolute best talent, but to empower them to live their best life both at home and at the office. We offer comprehensive health benefits that lead the industry, and have implemented wellness programs that support healthy choices for employees and their families.”
Michigan’s Best and Brightest in Wellness Symposium and Awards Gala was presented by the Michigan Business and Professional Association, Wellco, Corp! magazine and the Michigan Food and Beverage Association. The early morning event featured interactive learning sessions, a Wake-up Laughter Yoga Session by Melinda Curtis and professional wellness coach Laura Lerman, as well as a keynote address by cardiologist Dr. Joel Kahn.
“Having a healthy and happy workforce leads to a healthy company bottom line. This year’s winning companies represent the high standards and an exceptional commitment to healthy employees, healthy families and a healthy community,” said Jennifer Kluge, the publisher of Corp! magazine and chief executive officer of the Michigan Business and Professional Association, presenting organizations for the Best and Brightest in Wellness program.
