Mazak Optonics (Elgin, IL) recently announced that Al Bohlen will assume the leadership of the company’s North American operations as vice president/general manager. Bohlen, an existing Mazak Optonics executive, brings to the new position over 25 years of industry experience in customer service and support, applications engineering, product management and sales.
Bohlen’s extensive professional career has been exclusively within the fabrication industry, including the high-technology laser-cutting machine sector. As a very knowledgeable leader in the laser-cutting industry, he has authored numerous technical articles as well as presented at laser symposiums worldwide.
In his new position, Bohlen will assume the company leadership duties formerly carried out by Bill Citron who has left the company to pursue other business opportunities.
For the past two years, Bohlen has been the Mazak Optonics national sales manager. He managed and guided the activities of distributors, regional sales managers and the company’s outside sales team to further strengthen the firm’s market share. As a result, the company is currently experiencing a significant surge in business growth and new product development.
“As we progress along this current growth path with invigorated momentum, Mazak Optonics will quickly advance to even higher levels in terms of technological leadership in the industry,” said Bohlen.
“We will continuously introduce new exciting, innovative and advanced products that will benefit our customers and build their profitability. And as a solid foundation for that technology, we will further expand and strengthen our customer service and support, training and application engineering.”
According to Bohlen, Mazak Optonics experienced an extremely successful FABTECH 2013 show in Chicago where it introduced several new products that drew much attention and resulted in record levels of booth traffic and monthly orders, as well as high levels of inquiries. Two of the new products were TUBE GEAR, a high-speed, cost-effective tube-processing laser system and the other an automation system for the company’s 2D laser systems. Both will be available for demonstration at Mazak’s Laser Technology Center in Elgin, Illinois.
