OMCO (Wickliffe, OH), the largest custom roll former in the United States, is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with IXL Solar of Australia. OMCO will provide technical expertise related to the design and production of roll formed parts by IXL Solar for use in the construction of a 155 MW solar project near the towns of Nyngan and Broken Hill in Australia. This project is part of the Australian Government’s Solar Flagships Program.
The firm will design, manufacture and provide technical support for a complete roll forming line including pre-punch dies, a stamping press, and a cut-off station. The entire manufacturing line will be designed, fabricated, and pre-qualified at OMCO’s corporate headquarters in Wickliffe, Ohio prior to shipment to IXL Solar in Australia.
The roll forming line will duplicate designs already produced by OMCO Solar, a division of OMCO, which specializes in the design and production of solar panel mounting systems for utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) plants. The Solar Flagships project is expected to begin construction in the first quarter of 2014 and be completed by mid-year, 2015.
