Torch Uses “Boot” Design for Robust, Secure Power/Air Connection

The Arcair “boot” design from Victor Technologies withstands the routine abuse found in shop and field applications and virtually eliminates the chance of any accidental arcing.

The conventional weld cable boot encapsulates the power/air connection and eliminates potential arcing points.

Victor Technologies (St. Louis, MO) has introduced an improved Victor®Arcair® “boot” design that encapsulates the electrical connection between the torch and weld cable and eliminates the chance of accidental arcing. The patent-pending two-piece boot design is molded from a hard nylon reinforced fiber polymer made to withstand the substantial abuse in shop and field applications.

“The new boot design encapsulates the power/air connection, virtually eliminating the chance of any accidental arcing,” says Jeff Henderson, the brand Manager of Victor Arcair. Along with the conventional means of connecting the power cable using a crimped-on copper lug onto a welding cable, Arcair also offers a hook-up power kit.

The kit contains the improved molded nylon fiber boot, with a twist lock-style power connection and air hose extending from the rear of the torch cable. This option allows
the operator to connect or disconnect the incoming power lead and air line quickly
and easily.

Heavy Equipment Repair expert Isaac Carrion owns Welding Repair Services. He carries everything he needs on his mobile rig, and that includes torches from Victor and Arcair. Listen as Isaac explains why these tools are important.

The conventional torch cable assembly can accept one 4/0 welding cable from the power supply and one .75 in diameter air hose assembly providing current and compressed air. The new design will be found on the Victor Arcair Angle-Arc series of torch and cable assemblies beginning February 2014.

Arcair is a leader in air carbon-arc gouging, exothermic cutting and underwater cutting and welding products, providing a complete line for a wide-range of industry uses. Products include manual and automated gouging equipment, torches, accessories and carbon electrodes.
