Automation International, Inc., Acquires A.I. Welders Ltd. U.K.
The acquisition adds to Automation International’s established role as an industry leader in the design and manufacture of automated welding equipment including metal forming, production equipment, welding, assembly and spinning.

Automation International, Inc. (Danville IL) , a full engineering and automated equipment manufacturer, acquired A.I. welders Ltd. U.K. The company was originally located in Inverness Scotland and will be brought to the Automation International Inc. facility in Danville IL. USA. A.I. welders Ltd. provided metal joining machinery, metal forming systems and related equipment globally for over 125 years.
The purchase adds to Automation International’s established role as an industry leader in the design and manufacture of automated welding equipment including metal forming, production equipment, welding, assembly and spinning. In addition, two product lines in friction welding and rail welding equipment are added to the Automation International line of product offerings.
“This purchase complements our existing product line of Flash and butt welders, seam welders for coil joining and opens up opportunities in the stationary rail welding and friction welding machines” says Larry E. Moss, President. “We will incorporate our latest technology to these existing designs as well as providing service parts and global support for all the A.I. Welders Ltd. products and equipment.”
Automation International was established in 1991 with the merging of three well known Industrial Machinery Companies with a continuous history dating back almost 100 years. In 2013, a fourth was added when Automation International purchased the rim and wheel intellectual property from Hess Industries of Niles MI. to align with their design and manufacturing of a variety of automated, flexible welding and forming systems ranging from one machine to a complete wheel production line. Automation International designs and manufactures custom welding solutions using spot, seam, projection, flash butt-weld and arc for the automotive, agriculture, aerospace, military, construction, furniture, and appliance industries.
