Seco Tools North America (Troy, MI) recently invited customers from across the Midwest to attend an Indy 500 practice day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The day’s festivities included a meet and greet with IRL driver Marco Andretti, a tour of the Andretti Autosport garage, and a catered lunch in the team’s suite at the track as well as visiting the pits to get a firsthand view of the Indy cars in action.
“We really appreciate getting to come out as guests of Seco and Andretti today,” said Eric Robinson, a scheduling and purchasing supervisor at Standard Lock Nut (Westfield, IN). “Seco’s customer support and the knowledge of their sales people are huge benefits to Standard Lock Nut and we have a great relationship with Jeff Shope, our local rep.”
While the day started overcast and with rain that kept the cars off the track early on, Marco Andretti stopped by the suite to meet guests, sign autographs and pose for photos.
He mentioned to visitors that he loves the Indianapolis track due both to its history and the fact that it hosts one of the fastest races, with speeds of up to 220 mph.
Guests were then given a personal tour of the Andretti garage, where they had the chance to see the incredible amount of technology and work that goes into building and maintaining an Indy car.
After lunch, the weather cleared and the IMS team dried the track using jet engines reengineered for that unique purpose. As the cars took the field, guests visited the pits and took in the preparations and high-speed practice laps up close and personal.
