Chrysler Group LLC (Auburn Hills, MI) honored its top-performing suppliers during the company’s 2014 Annual Strategy Meeting and Supplier Awards ceremony held recently at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Vari-Form (Troy, MI) was honored as a finalist, having demonstrated top performance in the Supply Chain Management category. Criteria for selection included achieving the highest levels of performance as measured by the Chrysler supplier scorecard. In this case, the company’s delivery and quality scores ranked above 95 percent.
All award recipients were determined based on an evaluation of each company’s External Balanced Scorecard performance in 2013 – a rating system that evaluates supplier performance in areas such as quality, delivery, cost, warranty and partnership – coupled with input and agreement from Chrysler Group senior leadership.
“We are honored to be recognized as a finalist in this year’s Supplier Awards program. This recognition for supply chain management reflects our long-term commitment to excellence in supplier responsibility. We were in good company for this year’s award, competing alongside Paragon Metals (Charlotte, NC) and Flex-N-Gate (Urbana, IL),” said Stephen Dow, the president of Vari-Form. “Our congratulations to Flex-N-Gate for winning this year’s award in the category we shared as finalists.”
Approximately 3,000 global supplier executives attended the event. In addition to the awards ceremony, Chrysler Group and Fiat S.p.A. purchasing leadership reviewed their strategy for the future and expectations of suppliers. Scott Garberding, the head of group purchasing at Fiat S.p.A, presented Global Group Purchasing Strategy, and Scott Kunselman, the head of purchasing and supplier quality at Chrysler Group, shared NAFTA Group Purchasing Initiatives and Priorities with the audience.
“Our supply base manufactures more than 70 percent of the content on our cars and trucks,” said Scott Kunselman, the head of purchasing and supplier quality, Chrysler Group. “It is critical that they are as focused as we are on creating innovative, high quality vehicles that our customers want to drive. Our award-winning suppliers have proven themselves to be motivated, capable and excited to be on the Chrysler team.”
