REDUCED MAINTENANCE CONVEYOR INTEGRATES COOLANT CLEANING WITH CHIP REMOVAL
In Booth E-5620, Mayfran International (Cleveland, OH), a global leader in manufacturing conveying systems for a variety of industries, introduces its newest conveyor, the CleanSweep-RM. This equipment is considered to be the best general purpose chip conveyor available to integrate proven coolant cleaning technology with highly effective chip handling and removal.
The unique design of the CleanSweep-RM allows chips and coolant to enter the load area of the conveyor where large chips are carried by the hinge belt and elevated to the discharge hopper. An internal chip handling system removes small chips and fines while a removable screen box cleans the coolant. Reported payback period for the CleanSweep-RM conveyor is reported to be within one year.

SIMPLE TO COMPLEX LASER SCANNER MACHINE GUARDING
In Booth E-5459, Tapeswitch Corporation (Farmington, NY) offers a new programmable, mini safety laser scanner solution for simple through complex machine/area guarding applications. This product line assists the machinery builders/users with a fully zoned and programmable safety laser scanner with two warning ranges and one protective range with the capability of handling up to 16 pattern configurations for complex machine guarding applications.
Tapeswitch offers several lines of non-contact safety switches and system solutions for machine guarding/monitoring in industrial sectors and monitoring in commercial sectors in global markets. The new HE line offers a CAT 4, SIL 3 PLe system, featuring solid state, single point, switch options in either ABS or stainless steel resin filled housing and a single SCU-1 main control unit capable of monitoring up to 30 guards at a CAT 4, SIL 3 PLe safety performance level.
The HE-D switch reduces the amount of wiring for multiple gates and reduces the brackets needed for mounting the switches. The switches offer a CAT 4, SIL 3 PLe safety performance level. It has 2 N/O and 1 N/C bi-directional solid state outputs. The solid state outputs offer simple series connection. They offer a 7mm switching distance and can approach on each other from most angles. The HE switches are IP67 rated. When combined with the single SCU-1 control unit, it is a multi-gate switch solution capable of monitoring up to 30 switches in the series at a CAT 4, SIL 3 PLe safety performance level.
The Programmable Control Unit (PCU) from Tapeswitch is a versatile and cost effective solution for the machine builder, rebuilder, and end user that bridges the gap in-between traditional safety relays and PLC systems by integrating multiple safety devices and machinery locations. This is a viable and cost effective solution to solve applications in the market, such as upgrading traditional safety relays without incurring the higher costs of a PLC system; providing for a custom safety control unit that is capable of handling multiple safety devices in tandem; managing programming of logic control functions for those devices, multiple machinery locations and machine safety integration in tandem; and integration of safety devices with existing PLC systems.
The company offers new PCU safety control units that are a modular series of machine safety control units, making machine safety integration easier and programmable with logic control functions for all your safety devices, such as multiple combinations of mats, edges, bumpers, laser scanners, light curtains, non-contact safety switches, photocells, mechanical switches, emergency stops, two hand controls. The Programmable Control Unit (PCU) is certified up to a CAT 4 SIL CL 3 SIL 3 Ple safety level performance, depending upon the safety device capabilities, system configuration, and installation.
For over 55 years, Tapeswitch has manufactured general purpose signaling switches and presence sensing/sensing/contact detection switch products for industrial and commercial applications; machine safety-rated guarding products for OEM equipment manufacturers, machine builders and users; and custom manufacturing of simple signaling to complex machine guarding applications. www.tapeswitch.com
MAINTAIN MACHINE SUMP, EXTEND COOLANT PERFORMANCE
In Booth N-6790, Zebra Skimmers Corporation (Solon, OH) showcases their new FZ17 Coalescer, an industrial coalescing system used for maintaining machine sump performance while extending maximum coolant performance. This addition to the company’s line of traditional coolant maintenance products offersthe industry’s first adjustable weir system for collecting tramp oils. It has some impressivebenefits that enable shops to adapt the coalescer to work in harmony with their ownmanufacturing environment, anywhere in their operation, without sacrificing the integrity of themanufacturing performance.
The FZ17 Coalescing System combines interchangeable flow restrictors and an adjustable tramp oil weir and collection chamber with a “T” Strainer filter designed for preventing larger types of debris from entering the system. “We designed the FZ17 to be a cost-effective, expandable solution with customizable options to improve operational efficiencies as the industry shifts and manufacturers seek improved methods of improving coolant maintenance performance,” states Steve Davidian, the president of Zebra Skimmers. “Our goal was to redefine point-of-use and develop a flexible solution that would meet these needs and allow for adjustable capabilities as their usage requirements change.”
The FZ17 System is simple, but effective. For example, the authorized user simply walks up to the FZ17, places the intake device into a machine coolant sump, plugs the unit in and waits for tramp oils to accumulate in the oil collection chamber. There are several different intake devices available, as well as 110 v, 220 v, or air pump action.
Headquartered in Solon, Zebra Skimmers is a robust, flexible company with over 18,000 customers worldwide that was built by supporting processes and solving many of the issues associated with coolant maintenance products, coolant management systems and spare parts inventory. The company has sales reps and preferred distributors throughout the U.S., Canada, Argentina, Australia, India, Germany, Mexico, Japan, Thailand and the UK. www.zebraskimmers.com
