TCI Precision Metals (TCI; Gardena, CA) announced the reconfiguration of its shop floor to better serve the needs of customers looking to effectively reshore manufacturing. By analyzing its machining cells and facility space, the company has effectively consolidated its 105,000 sq ft shop floor, freeing up 20,000 sq ft to be used for value-added operations, including sub- and final assembly.
“We have always maintained plenty of space and infrastructure to support our Los Angeles based contract machining operation. Today, assembly space and resources in close proximity to full service machining, milling and grinding operations are something many OEM manufacturers are looking for,” said John Belzer, the president of TCI. “As companies look for ways to bring their manufacturing back to the U.S., they need flexible and creative solutions and our goal is to provide them.”
Reshoring is a business decision. Contract manufacturers and job shops must provide the extended value necessary for OEMs to realize sustained benefits over offshore alternatives. Shortened and just-in-time delivery, inventory management, quality improvement, total cost of ownership and customer responsiveness are key benefits that must be realized.
TCI is committed to continuous quality improvement with both ISO 9001 and AS9100 certifications. Implementation and evolution of its ERP system over the past ten years has resulted in the ability to efficiently integrate customer process and documentation requirements into the operational workflow.
Founded in 1956, TCI Precision Metals is a family-owned precision manufacturer producing precision machine-ready blanks from aluminum, stainless steel and other alloys, and providing contract manufacturing services. Sawing, Grinding, Milling and Finishing operations with the added benefit of being a plate and sheet distributor make the company a one-stop source for quality aluminum, stainless and other alloy blanks.
Over 30 CNC machines, including 5-axis capabilities, allows TCI to machine a wide range of parts. The company serves the needs of the medical, oil and gas, aerospace, industrial equipment, defense, food packaging, semiconductor and many other industries.
