Coldwater Machine Appoints New Director

Robert Rich now directs operations, new business development, market expansion, staff development and quality control at the Solid State Joining Center.

Robert Rich is the new director of the Solid State Joining Center that is dedicated to the development of technologies such as friction welding to address the challenges of joining lightweight and dissimilar materials.

Coldwater Machine Company (Coldwater, OH) has appointed Robert Rich as director of its Solid State Joining Center that is dedicated to the development of technologies such as friction welding to address the challenges of joining lightweight and dissimilar materials. Rich will be responsible for overall operations of the Joining Center including new business development, market expansion, staff development and quality control.

“Bob is a seasoned manufacturing executive that possesses both excellent leadership skills and broad industry knowledge,” said Coldwater Machine president Tim McCaughey. “I am confident he will help further our capabilities and develop our business in the markets we serve.”

Before joining Coldwater, Rich served as vice president and general manager of Schuler Incorporated (Canton, MI) for seven years. There he was responsible for overseeing all technical and production aspects of the business. Prior to that he opened the Detroit metro offices of General Bearing Corporation, serving as director of automotive applications, and Stanadyne Corporation, where he was sales and application engineering director.

Rich is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the Original Equipment Suppliers Association (OESA) and the Center for Automotive Research (CAR). He holds a bachelor of science degree from Aquinas College (Grand Rapids, MI), supported by engineering coursework at Lawrence Institute of Technology (Southfield, MI).
