Vargus Ltd. These solutions are applicable for a wide variety of heavy duty applications with large pitches, such as those found in the machine builder, turbine production and mining industries.
Mega Line for Extra Large Pitches
Covering a pitch range of 10 mm to 24 mm (2-1tpi), Mega Line tools feature an innovative insert design with a new geometry that is specially suited to large part machining. These tools further provide significantly increased levels of stability and support during machining due to the specially designed toolholder support that is uniquely suited to each insert profile. In addition, Mega Line boasts a unique clamping system with an indented insert edge that is intended to withstand increased cutting forces during machining and prevent insert rotation.
Offered in VKX tough submicron grade, these inserts are available in size IC ⅝ in MG with one cutting edge for improved machining of large pitches. The toolholder range comprises external and internal styles in shank diameters of 25 mm (1.0 in), 32 mm (1.25 in) and 40 mm (1.50 in) for external toolholders and 40 mm (1.50 in), 50 mm (2.0 in) and 63 mm (2.5 in) for internal toolholders. The maximum tool overhang for internal toolholders is 150mm (6 in).
MiTM for Super Fast Thread Milling
The MiTM 41 Standard and Shell Mill tools from the MiTM line are uniquely suited to large pitch applications of up to 6 mm or 4 tpi, with cutting diameters of up to 58 mm and 1 flute to 6 flutes. The MiTM super fast thread milling system comprises multi-flute toolholders for significantly increased feed rates, and longer-than-normal inserts (41 mm) for reduced machining passes, in particular when producing long threads.
The increased number of cutting edges of these tools also leads to improvements in the surface finish of machined workpieces. Furthermore, the coating on these inserts offers better wear resistance and a longer tool life when machining a wide range of different materials.
TMSD –Thread Milling for Deep Holes
The new TMSD V-Style Shell Mill (⅝ in V) for American Buttress (ABUT) is a multi-flute thread milling tool that ensures faster and more efficient machining of heavy duty applications with deeps holes of up to 200 mm, and pitches of up to 2.5 tpi. TMSD Vertical inserts feature a single point design and reinforced cutting corner for reduced load on the cutting edges and greatly improved rigidity. The TMSD Vertical style toolholders also have a special design that provides unique support for the non-symmetrical shape of ABUT style inserts.
The TMSD U Style and L Style (⅜ in L) Shell Mills are also applicable for heavy industry applications with cutting diameters up to 98mm and maximum thread lengths of 200 mm. All of these tools feature through-tool cooling for fast chip evacuation and cooling at the cutting corner, essential for deep hole applications.
