As president of the global automation organization, Steve Hedlund will oversee the implementation of all strategic, operational and commercial aspects of automation as part of the ‘2020 Vision and Strategy’ that targets accelerated growth in sales, profitability and returns by 2020.

The Lincoln Electric Company (Cleveland, OH), a subsidiary of Lincoln Electric Holdings, Inc., has announced the promotion of Steven B. Hedlund to the senior vice president and president of Global Automation, effective immediately. Hedlund previously served the company as the senior vice president for strategy and business development.

The new role expands executive leadership of the company’s global automation initiative, which is a key growth program in its ‘2020 Vision and Strategy’ that targets accelerated growth in sales, profitability and returns by 2020. Currently, the company’s global automation offering represents the industry’s broadest portfolio of automated arc welding and cutting solutions. The initiative is focused on achieving $500 million in revenue by 2020. As the president, Hedlund will oversee the implementation of all strategic, operational and commercial aspects of the global automation organization.

“I am pleased to announce the promotion of Steve to this newly expanded role,” said Christopher L. Mapes, the chairman, president and chief executive officer of Lincoln Electric Holdings, Inc. “His contributions, strategic vision and impressive leadership have been invaluable to the organization and to the executive management team. Over the last four years, Steve has led a disciplined acquisition program which doubled our automation portfolio, and I am confident that he will successfully lead the global automation organization through its next phase of growth and development.”

Hedlund joined Lincoln in 2008 as the vice president of strategy and business development where he led Lincoln’s strategic planning and acquisitions programs, and in 2014 was promoted to the senior vice president of strategy and business development. Previously, he was with Fortune Brands, Inc. and at Booz Allen & Hamilton. Hedlund earned a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Dartmouth College.
