ABB Robotics recently opened a 21,000 sq ft facility in Houston, TX, to better support customers in Houston and surrounding areas with the latest robotic manufacturing technology, especially in CNC machining and metal fabrication applications. In addition to accelerated product delivery schedules, the new facility and its staff will allow the company to better serve the market with local application support and product training, more closely helping customers improve their productivity with robotic automation. The facility will house an array of live robotic demos so customers and prospects can better learn first-hand how various systems can improve their operation.
“Houston and the oil and gas industry are important to us, and our growing presence in the region will help us better serve the growing demand the market has for industrial robotics,” said Keith Fox, the vice president of ABB Robotics. “We are committed to helping our customers improve their manufacturing processes by offering world class automation technology and expertise.”
The new Houston facility is located on 7210 Empire Central; the phone number is 281-210-0223.
In related news, the company is partnering with SVIA Industrial Automation to exhibit a compact robotic machine tending cell at Houstex 2015 (Booth No.1954) on February 24-26 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, an event that will feature over 200 exhibitors highlighting the latest manufacturing technologies, many with live product demonstrations.
The compact machine tending cell is a pre-engineered robotic system designed to load and unload machine tools using a vision-guided ABB robot. Designed for both small batch and high volume production, the robotic system can increase spindle utilization over manual machine tending processes. The system is designed for small parts and compatible with a wide range of machine tools, and comes complete with a robot controller inside a fully integrated control cabinet, and software for efficient setup and programming. Depending on the machine tool process and the size range of the parts, the cell can be equipped with either an IRB 1600 or IRB 2600 robot.
