Sneak Preview of EPS at Lee Steel
Take a look at how this technology has given them a competitive edge over acid pickling.

Last year, Lee Steel Corporation (Novi, MI) installed a state-of-the-art Eco Pickling System (EPS®) in their Romulus, MI, location (see “Lee Steel Installs Red Bud Coil Line“). Capable of descaling material up to .375 in (9 mm) at 72 in (1830 mm) wide, this line is truly a game changer in the pickling world. Fast forward to present day, the company’s EPS Line is setting a new standard for pickled material.
With EPS, Lee Steel is able to offer their customer a scale free, clean, rust resistant surface without the use of harmful acids like those used with traditional acid pickling. After installing a Multi-Blanking Line at their Grand Rapids location, the company knew they could rely on the expertise and reliability of Red Bud Industries, Inc. (Red Bud, IL) when they decided to purchase their EPS Line.

In this video, Zach Taylor, the president of Lee Steel, discusses how EPS has expanded their presence in the marketplace. He also talks about the advantage EPS has given them over competitors using acid pickling. With EPS, pickling stains, silicon streaks, and rust scars are eliminated. Their customers are seeing a difference. Since EPS is rust resistant, a protective oil film is not needed. As a result, downstream processing is a breeze when compared to oily acid pickled material.
