Farr Gold Series® cartridge dust and fume collectors from Camfil Air Pollution Control offer improved filter access door hardware and an improved filter clamping system.

DUST COLLECTOR UPGRADES
Camfil Air Pollution Control (Jonesboro, AR) updated its popular line of Farr Gold Series® cartridge dust and fume collectors with two improvements: one to the filter access door hardware and the other to the filter clamping system to provide enhanced ease of use, safety and reliability, at no added cost to customers.

A new patent-pending clamping system on the door hardware provides greater locking strength and makes it easier to close the door. The new system increases compression leverage to a 50:1 ratio when closing the door, providing a reliable seal with 6.5 psi standard strength and eliminating the need for a high pressure door adder.

The filter clamping system has also been updated to utilize laser-cut, welded-in clamp bar brackets in place of bolted-in brackets to hold the clamping bars to the tube sheet. The new design ensures highly accurate tolerances and allows the clamp bars to swing freely for greater ease of filter change-out. The welded design also eliminates bolt holes between the dirty air and clean air plenums. In addition, the corner brackets are made of unpainted stainless steel to help maintain grounding throughout the unit.

FUME EXTRACTING TELESCOPING ARM
Miller Electric Mfg. Co. (Appleton, WI) offers telescoping arm as an option on select FILTAIR® fume extraction systems. Available for the FILTAIR SWX series of stationary fume extractors and the FILTAIR 2000 – 12000 centralized system models, the telescoping arm allows users to maximize their space, particularly in training facilities where weld booths tend to be smaller.

The telescoping arm option is available in an 8 in diameter for the SWX series or in 6 in or 8 in diameters for the Industrial Centralized fume extraction systems. The arm can be easily shortened or extended between 3 ft and 4.5 ft, depending on the weld booth space requirements, ensuring users obtain the right length to effectively capture weld fume and help maintain a safe, clean environment. The new arm style also offers a wide range of motion, allowing the user to adjust it to a variety of angles for maximum performance. Standard fume extraction arms are significantly longer, with options for 7 ft, 10 ft or 12 ft lengths, and typically better suited for use outside of standard weld booths.

The telescoping arm complements the excellent fume extraction capabilities of the FILTAIR systems. The FILTAIR SWX systems are designed to be wall- or column-mounted where the weld areas are near the filtration system, while the Industrial Centralized FILTAIR models are part of a high-volume engineered system designed to effectively manage weld fume particulate via installed ductwork in larger facilities.

Both the SWX and Industrial Centralized systems feature high-efficiency filters capable of capturing up to 99 percent of weld fume from the welding environment. The FilTek® XL surface-loading filters also last up to two times longer than many competitive styles, and provide more efficient airflow through the filter, resulting in lower operating costs, stronger suction power and a cleaner work space. Each is an effective weld fume solution for addressing safety and compliance in work and training environments.

HIGH TEMPERATURE FUME EXTRACTION EXHAUST HOSE
A durable, Kevlar® coated high temperature fabric hose that is locked around a coated steel wire by a metal strip formed into a clip and offers superior abrasion-resistance has been introduced by Flexaust (Warsaw, IN). Flex-Lok® 570 High Temperature Exhaust Hose is constructed with a single-ply Para-Aramid fabric that is locked around a coated steel wire by a metal strip and is mechanically crimped in a continuous process. Ideal for fume venting at -40 deg F to 570 deg F temperatures, this lightweight flexible hose is flame-retardant, puncture-resistant, and provides high tensile strength.

Suitable for reel and drop systems, the Flex-Lok® 570 High Temperature Exhaust Hose’s metal strip acts as a wear strip and is vibration-resistant. Hoses are offered in 4 in to 18 in ID sizes and 25 ft standard lengths. A 4 in hose weighs approx. 0.71 ft-lb, has a 3 in bend radius, and 6:1 compression ratio. Applications include exhaust venting and welding fume extraction. Flex-Lok® 570 High Temperature Exhaust Hose is priced according to size and quantity.  Samples and price quotations are available upon request.
